led by the Friends of Brownhill Creek members Environment Institute member, and Dr Rosslyn (Rossi) von der Boch were awarded Gold award for the Nature Foundation Habitat Restoration and Protection Award.

Their project titled 鈥淏andi Bushcare: Habitat Restoration and Protection in Wirraparinga-Brownhill Creek鈥 promotes a community of volunteers that protect and create habitat for the endangered southern brown bandicoot (marti) in the Brownhill Creek Recreation Park.

Using a combination of science and hands-on restoration, volunteers are given the nickname the 鈥淏andi Bunch鈥, meeting weekly in the park to map biodiversity while using innovative bush care approaches aligning with regional recovery plans. They also target weed removals and develop a native species regeneration across four priority areas.

Bandi Bushcare nurtures community engagement through events, partnerships with Kaurna elders and local organisations. Bandi Bushcare not only restores ecosystems but also builds a vibrant, skilled volunteer community dedicated to caring for nature.
