2025 Environment Institute Research Symposium

We held our annual research symposium, bringing together over 120 attendees - research partners, stakeholders, Environment Institute members, higher degree research students, and EI Advisory Board members.This engaging, energised day provided connection and learnings related to the Institute’s nine Research Initiatives, our research capabilities, key partnered projects, as well as future opportunities and cross sector trends.

Tickets Now Available for the International Symposium on Green Urban Futures

Registration is now open for the International Symposium on Green Urban Futures, taking place at the National Wine Centre in ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É, South Australia, on 3–4 December 2025. Presented by the Environment Institute, in partnership with Green ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É and Treenet, the symposium is chaired by Professor Veronica Soebarto, initiative lead of Green Urban Futures and Planetary Health at the Environment Institute.

Event: Miyawaki Mini Forests & Smart Green Networks Symposium - 6-7 June

Small community forest patches are being planted in cities around the world to address the global biodiversity and climate crises and to bring people together to celebrate human-nature connections. Many of these have been inspired by a Japanese concept known as the Miyawaki Method of forestry or Miyawaki Miniforests.
