A new chapter for higher education in South Australia
In 2023, the Government of South Australia, the University of ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É and the University of South Australia signed a Heads of Agreement to support the creation of a new university for the future.
On 8 March 2024, the South Australian Parliament established ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É University under the ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É University Act 2023 (SA) (the Act). The Act sets the pathway for the University of ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É and University of South Australia to transition their teaching, research and other operations to ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É University.
ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É University is a leading contemporary university of global standing, created to enable people, industry and society to thrive – shaping a better Australia and a better world.
Here's what you need to know
- Both the University of ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É and the University of South Australia will continue to operate as usual until the end of 2025.
- ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É University will commence operations in January 2026.
- ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É University will become the legal successor in law of The University of ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É and University of South Australia.
What do you need to do right now?
At this stage, no action is required from you. If you have a current contract with us, it remains valid and binding under its existing terms.
We are actively preparing for a smooth and coordinated transfer and are committed to keeping you informed of any changes that may impact your contract.
You may have already received specific communications regarding your contract. If not, the next communication you receive about this process will be from ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É University.
