    Professor Graham 'Gus' Nathan

    Professor G.J. 'Gus' Nathan is Fellow of the Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and of the Combustion Institute, an ARC Discovery Outstanding Researcher Awardee (Fellowship) and founding director of The University of ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É’s Centre for Energy Technology.

    Elsevier and Stanford University have listed Prof. Nathan in the top 2% of scientists worldwide. He is the Research Director of the $215m Heavy Industry, Low-carbon Transition (HILT) Cooperative Research Centre, Node Leader in the Added Value program addressing solar fuels in the $82m Australian Solar Thermal Research Initiative, and led the $14m ARENA funded program in partnership with Alcoa and Hatch to develop technology that targeted 45% reduction in CO2 emissions from the Bayer Alumina process with solar thermal hybrids.

    Prof. Nathan is also a founding chair of the High-Temperature Minerals Processing, HiTeMP Forum, co-founder of Hydrogen Production Technologies, HyPT Forum and joint founder of the International Workshop on the measurement and computation of reacting flows with carbon nanoparticles, the ISF Workshop.

    Natalia Lobanova is an experienced higher education professional with over 15 years’ experience across the UK, EU, and Australia. Now serving as a Senior Administrator at ISER, she brings a strong background in student services, program delivery, and industry engagement, with working knowledge of public-private partnership (PPP) projects and international collaboration. Holding a Master’s degree in International Relations, she combines academic insight with practical capability across education, policy, and stakeholder engagement. Her previous roles have included overseeing national placement operations and coordinating academic support and wellbeing initiatives. Nat is known for her strategic thinking, cultural awareness, and commitment to fostering inclusive, high-impact educational environments.

    Associate Prof. Sandra Cassotta

    Adjunct Associate Professor, Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Resources (ISER)

    Associate Prof Cassotta is an Associate Professor in International, Environmental, and Energy Law. She was appointed Lead Author on Environmental Governance and Polar Regions (Arctic and Antarctic) at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) and World Meteorological Organization (WMMO); and currently re-appointed as Coordinating Lead Author (CLA) at the IPCC for the AR7 GWIII in Sustainable Development and Mitigation to Climate Change. She specializes in environmental (climate) damage and liability problems in a multilevel context.

    Her expertise is on environmental regime effectiveness in a multi-level governance perspective. Included in her areas of interests/expertise are energy law, human rights, law of the sea (UNCLOS), and environmental security (particularly that of the Arctic Ocean), Energy Security and Geopolitics. Her approach is cross-area and transdisciplinary, combining law with international relations, economics, and elements of (climate) environmental science and technology.Ìý Associate Prof Cassotta is also an Adjunct Professor of Law, School of Law, Western Sydney University (Sydney, Australia), Fellow at the Sustainability College Bruges – SCB (Belgium), Expert Research Fellow at the Institute for Security and Development Policy, ISDP working on the Sino-Arctic Research Programme (Stockholm, Sweden), Member of the Governamental Panel of Assessment for the Academy of Finland, Expert at the European Commission (DG Clima Adaptation) and invited speaker at the European Parliament,Ìýand Global Fellow at the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law (CISDL).
